Kazi Rubaiat Habib... & thanks for dropping off to my site. :)
I am a PhD candidate in NUS HCI Lab,
School of Computing, National University of Singapore. I am working on
creativity support tools under the supervision od Dr. Shengdong Zhao.
Previously, I completed my undergraduate B.Sc on Computer Science
and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Tech (BUET).
I love design, visualization, graphic novel and animations. I authored a graphics novel named "Vakkhosh" (meaning: Good monsters) in Bangladesh and worked for numerous magazines and editors as an illustrator. Exploring in the field of art & literature gave me my own perspective about technology.
My research interest lies in developing computational tools for art and creativity that inspires people to explore and create. My project SandCanvas won the ACM Golden Mouse award in CHI 2011 (also presented in SIGGRAPH 2011). I also designed and developed Vignette, a sketch based interactive tool for pen-and-ink illustratoion (CHI 2012).
I was named as Microsoft Research Asia Fellow 2011 as a recognition of my works in HCI.
In my leisure time, I like to travel with the 'monsters' around the globe, in the
form of my graphics novel named 'Vakkhosh'. While I am indulged in the adventure
from the window of my sketch book, sometimes I feel.... Life is hell of an adventure
indeed! :-)
Here is my CV(pdf) (updated, Feb 2011)
