Vignette is an interactive tool that facilitates texture creation in pen-and-ink illustrations in a natural and easy way. Unlike existing systems, Vignette preserves illustrators’ workflow and style: users draw a fraction of a texture and use gestures to automatically fill regions with the texture. Our exploration of natural work-flow and gesture-based interaction was inspired by traditional way of creating illustrations. Vignette makes the process of illustration more enjoyable and that first time users can create rich textures from scratch within minutes.
Vignette is about to showcased in CHI special video session, in Austin 2012.

A Multi-touch Art Medium Inspired by Sand Animation
Sand animation is a performance art technique in which an artist
tells stories by creating animated images with sand. Inspired by this medium,
we have developed a new multi-touch digital artistic medium named SandCanvas
that simplifies the creation of sand animations. SandCanvas also goes beyond
traditional sand animation with tools for mixing sand animation with video
and replicating recorded free-form hand gestures.
SandCanvas was showcased in CHI special video session, in Vancouver 2011 and was also presented in SIGGRAPH 2011.
Publication:
Rubaiat Habib Kazi, Kien-Chuan Chua, Shengdong Zhao, Richard C. Davis, Kok-Lim Low.

In summer 2009, I worked in the project titled as "Computational aesthetics of
character design".Our research goal was to explore how technology can help to
reduce the tedium of character development for games, animation and commercials.
We developed a novel shape signature to represent, analyze and correlate cartoon
characters to perceived traits.

A blissful jaunt to fantacy world
"Vakkhosh" is one of our(Mehedi, Zahid, Tanim and me) favorite works. It elicits the story of friendly vegeterian monsters, located in the imaginary kingdom named Addigor,
in heart of the deepest of jungles. Apparently, the notion of the plot came out from our firm believe that -
monsters do exist!!!
